Creating Water Crystals Creating Peace 10.01.09
Wednesday, October 7, 2009
As a way to create a peaceful, friendly, kind classroom, the children have explore the work of the Japanese Scientist, Masaru Emoto. Looking at various photos and reading his book,
The Secret of Water for the Children of the World, the children examine the affects of words and actions on water. The children see how saying kind things, i.e." Thank You," "You can play with us." "You look nice today, " "I Love You," creates beautiful water crystals within one's body. Likewise, if children say unkind things they will create gross, icky water images within one's body. This has been a great exercise that helps kids understand the power of their own words and actions on others and the world around them. They see how although they each are different in how they look or where they come from, they all have lots of water (80% of their body's makeup) and have the power to create crystals within each other. The children loved learning about this and decided to also send love to Mother Earth. While playing outside they gathered, on their own, into a circle around their new tree chair, singing, and sending love to the tree. The staff was amazed when they saw them initiate on their own the desire to stand in a circle around the tree. When asked what they were doing, one child who lead the activity said, "We are giving love to the tree."
